So I guess I'll start blogging again
Hey there!
Welp, here I am on another platform. I’ve decided to give up my website because for one, they keep raising the doggone price and Hello, I’m a starving artist over here! Also, their blog function has issues and I put in a ticket for them to fix it eons ago, to no avail, AND it just took up too much time to try and update stuff. I should also add, if I’m truthful, that I’ve been spending a lot of time creating for myself, so there’s that. I’ve had this dream for almost as long as I can remember, of creating a space that feels like…………….well, like me. Because seriously, did the universe dump me into the wrong world?? Anyway, I have all of these visions spinning in my head of what my living space should look like and as I get older, it feels more important than ever to bring those visions to life. Don’t worry though, this doesn’t mean I’m not going to continue to create happy little things for my collectors :-) I’ve got creations in process :-)
Anyway, in the meantime, what I thought I’d do is create a blog to share what I’m working on, as fb and IG have turned into algorithm cesspools and I don’t have time for that shit. Plus the tech bros are on my last damn nerve right now. Don’t get me wrong, I still rant over there, but I needed a separate place for creativity only. A no drama resting spot, if you will. Dragging folks over here or to substack (yes, I’m going to have 2 spaces just in case)(you choose your fave), is going to be really hard , as everyone and I mean everyone is addicted to the social media of their choice. Heck, I might just find that I’m talking to myself over here, but it won’t be the first or the last lol. And I’ve gotta TRY. Oh, and I’m starting a garden blog too! But don’t worry, I’m going to post garden stuff here on this blog too, but I had to have a garden “only” blog for something else I’m working on. You can pop over there and read the story of what that’s about if you’re interested. I will also have a substack garden blog. Again, you choose which one you’d prefer.
Okay! Now that I’ve explained what the heck I’m up to, let’s look at some pics!
Let me start out first by telling you that the first two weeks following the election (election day was my birthday btw and I most definitely didn’t get what I wanted), I was VERY depressed. Like sick to my stomach depressed. I laid on the couch for 2 days, but I’m not good at sitting still for too long, so before I knew it, I had picked up my paintbrushes and pulled out my many mini jars of latex paint and I started painting and painting and painting the walls in my living room. This is my way of working thru “things”.
Here’s where I’m at so far…..
Those are Mardi Gras beads hanging in the windows
I’m thinking of adding a ladybug to the vine to the left of the butterfly or a frog.
The blank space over the door will be getting a dragonfly???
This white door was a bifold door that we added wood to on the inside so that it opens like a regular door (I hate bifold doors). We then attached it to the frame with piano hinge. It will get painted the same deep turquoise as the scalloped windows in the previous pic and I’m trying to figure out what kind of knob/handle i want to add to it.
I even went up the steps
Then to the other side. I might add a frog or a turtle.
Added the green on the chair rail moulding and below. I’m feeling pretty earthy in my color choices, but NOT Pantone’s color of the year 2025 Mocha Mousse (brown)(NOPE). One of these days, those stair risers will get a mosaic and I’m not loving the white stair railing spindles soooooo
There you go. I’m still not finished. I’ve got a couple more walls to hit and more moulding to paint from white to green and I may add a little more greenery here and there. And if you’re wondering if I painted behind the furniture….
Yes, yes I did. That’s the 2nd gator I’ve added to this room :-) Fitting since I basically live in the swamp.
Okay! There’s my first post in the books. I hope you’ll follow me here, so I don’t spend too much time talking to myself :-) I’ve got a lot more to share with you! I mean, our country is crazy right now, so I’m creating like crazy to keep myself from going more crazy. That’s a lot of crazy (sigh)
Until next time,
Peace and Plant Flowers, (also, RESIST)
Michelle
Also, because I don't want to pay for a "Like" button (are you kidding me??), please leave a comment or just a thumbs up in the comment section to let me know you were here. Thanks!!! Oh, and p.s., the deer on the wall is a rescue from a thrift store
With all of the ugliness in the world, at least your safe space is happy. Not put into the wrong world- you were put in this one to create beauty and happiness when the world needs it most.
ReplyDeleteThe butterfly is my favorite. I just love everything about it. 🦋💖
